ECN Congress „Tage der Ergonomie“ 2015

The Congress 2015 of ergonomics competence network took place in Friedrichshafen at Lake Constance. Again, some young scientists took the opportunity to present their research and to be giving tips from experienced ergonomists. A special highlight of this year's conference was the presentation of ergonomics award on Montfort Castle in Langenargen.

Presentations

Two presentations gave an ergonomic view on two different professions: Prof. Dr. Friedbert Bombosch and Dipl.-Ing. Holger Sturhan outlined the dangers of forestry business. They measured the ability of face protection shields to withstand penetration and demonstrated the penetrating power of even just small branches of timber. Consequentially, they developed an improved design, to alleviate this risk.

Prof. Dr. drs. drs. Jerome Rotgans presented research about spinal and back disorder widely spread among dentists, including a spontaneous demonstration recruiting an innocent member of the audience .

Two researched adressed the topic of noise and vibration: Dr.-Ing. F. Gillmeister presented a measurement device for the vibration-sensitivity, which could also be tested by the audience members.

Dr.-Ing. Mario Penzkofer from the university of Siegen presented the value of informationens hidden in accoustic signals for health professionals and patients.

Prof. i.R. Dr. rer.nat. habil. H. Bubb from the university of München presented a glance overview of ergonomic applications in medical design, from tripping hazards to patient care with roboters.

How to dimension the actuation force for control elements? This was the topic of Dr.- Ing. Stephan Riedel, exercised by the example of an auto injector for diabetics.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Schmauder presented his research about ergonomic design of mattresses taking different sleeping positions into account.
